Upfronts are meetings hosted by television network executives at the beginning of important advertising sales periods (in this case, a couple of months before summer programming begins) in order to allow marketers to buy commercial airtime. Although these are not fan events, fans sometimes get the opportunity to meet actors from their favorite shows by waiting outside the venue where the upfront is taking place.
