From Celebrity Clothing Line:
We’ve been calling for feathers in our Spring 2011 fashion forecast for weeks now – and at this past weekend’s Screen Actors Guild Awards in Hollywood, one of our favorite fierce actresses, Angie Harmon, proved us right. Before we take a look at her feathery frock, we have to admit that the “Rizzoli & Isles” actress would look hot in a potato sack. But in her bold, baby pink Monique Lhuillier confection, we’re even more smitten!Absolutely Angie: A fan site with news, pics, & commentary related to "Rizzoli & Isles" star Angie Harmon.
This fluffy frock, although not everyone’s personal taste, shows just how sophisticated feathers can be. In fact, we think Angie’s loud look is downright chic – and even though pale pink isn’t a red carpet favorite, this Lhuillier look was styled to perfection. Angie opted for a simple and understated low ponytail and natural, dewy skin for the night. Her quiet hair and makeup made a powerful statement against her elaborate dress – and kept her whole ensemble looking pretty and polished instead of prom-night-disaster. To mimic the look, remember to keep hair and makeup simple if you’re wearing a statement gown. It’s important to let one bold element stand out – in this case, Angie’s Monique Lhuillier dress – rather than force it to compete with a complicated, curly updo.
Angie also kept her accessories to an absolute minimum, opting for only a single-strand bracelet and stud earrings. If she wore a glitzy bold necklace or giant drop earrings, it would have been impossible to see the delicate sweetheart neckline of her gown. When wearing a dress with bold features like feathers and an embellished bodice, remember to keep jewelry and accessories simple.
If you love the feminine touch feathers look, but are weary of a full-length gown, try a feather accessory the next time you wear your simple little black dress. Try a feather detail on your evening bag or even a feathered shoe to ease your way into the trend – and remember to let your statement piece shine.
