TNT has spent years trying to find a show that would even approach “The Closer” in terms of ratings. The now retired “Saving Grace,” which frequently followed “The Closer,” wasn’t it.Absolutely Angie: A fan site with news, photos, and commentary related to "Rizzoli & Isles" star Angie Harmon.
Instead, TNT found its newest hit last summer with the less ambitious, more conventional “Rizzoli & Isles,” which featured two friends, one a tomboy cop Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon), the other a fashionable medical examiner Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander) The show even beat “The Closer” one week in ratings, a first for any TNT show.
“I’m so incredibly grateful for ‘The Closer,’ ” Harmon said in an interview earlier this month. “If it had not been for ‘The Closer,’ I don’t think this avenue would have been explored. And that being said. women identify with the characters. I’m thankful viewers are enjoying it so much.”

RIZZOLI & ISLES left us hanging with that incredible first season finale. If you enjoyed that then you are really going to love the explosive season two premiere with special guest star Chris Vance. I don’t really need to write a review after I mention Chris Vance, right? I know those are the two magic words that will get me to tune in to anything and if you pair them with the gorgeous duo of Sasha Alexander and Angie Harmon, then there is nothing in the world that could stop me from watching. RIZZOLI & ISLES accomplished more in one season then most shows do in three. They kept their viewers interested and compelled to come back week after week and so a second season was born. I was one of those viewers and I am so happy to report that this season is even stronger.Absolutely Angie: A fan site with news, photos, and commentary related to "Rizzoli & Isles" star Angie Harmon.
I don’t think I’m giving too much away by saying that Detective Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) returns. The show is called RIZZOLI & ISLES and not Isles & Bass, so I think it is safe to assume that she recovers.

RIZZOLI & ISLES “We Don’t Need Another Hero” Season 2 Episode 1 – Okay so let me ask this up front – saying that Rizzoli survives her gunshot wound from the season one finale is not a spoiler, right? I mean after all, Angie Harmon is one of the two stars of the show. No one really thought she was going to die, did they? No? Okay good, because if I had to keep that fact hidden, this was gonna be one really hard “spoiler-free” review to write.Absolutely Angie: A fan site with news, photos, and commentary related to "Rizzoli & Isles" star Angie Harmon.
This season two opener starts up three months after the violence that occurred in the siege and though Rizzoli is mostly recovered physically, she’s still got a ways to go mentally. Everyone around her has labeled her as a hero, but she’s not comfortable with the title at all and would like nothing more than to get the attention off of herself and onto anyone else. Plus, as if that wasn’t enough, she’s also got some pretty major family issues going on as well.
Basically Rizzoli is kind of having a rough time of it, but luckily fate decides that the best thing for her is to get back to work. Though she’s not cleared for duty yet, a case dumps itself right into her lap and she (along with an old friend who shows up), gets right to work on it.
Overall I liked this season two premiere. You’d think after all that happened in last year’s finale that they’d just want to give us a fairly quiet episode but there were actually some tense moments that, while not quite on par with that episode, still had me on the edge of my seat.

You can call "Rizzoli & Isles" glib and sometimes even silly, but you have to admit it's also fun.Absolutely Angie: A fan site with news, photos, and commentary related to "Rizzoli & Isles" star Angie Harmon.
Few fempals have an easier or more appealing rapport than Angie Harmon's Jane Rizzoli and Sasha Alexander's Maura Isles.
They're the ones who make the constant flow of wry patter seem engaging, rather than simply annoying. They make it sound not like a recycled sitcom, but a solid chick flick.
For those tuning in late, and that's not a problem with this show, Rizzoli is a high-achieving detective with the Boston Police Department. She's also presented as a lifelong blue-collar tomboy, and given the fact she's Angie Harmon, that part sometimes stretches credulity.
Still, it makes sense that she would act as tough as the boys, because otherwise there'd be no way she would have survived and thrived in their testosterone-driven world.
